Evaluating new powertrains?
When assessing new powertrains, either battery electric, hybrid electric, or new fuels you always come up against the limitation of specifying your maritime operations in approximate terms in order to approximate the characteristics (battery size, torque, max speed, etc) of the new powertrain.
Cetasol's Evaluation Kit uses the core components of iHelm to create a digital twin of your vessel that can be used to test potential new powertrain options. It starts with a two-week long calibration against actual usage of the vessel to create an accurate digital twin. This digital twin can then be modified to assess the needs for a battery electric or hybrid electric powertrain - or even one powered by methanol!
